We are here to provide our students with the fundamental skills of dental assisting through a hands-on educational approach while providing an accommodating schedule. In only 10 weeks of Friday classes our students will gain knowledge through both a classroom setting and clinical practice in becoming a registered dental assistant (RDA) all while maintaining a regular schedule.
The need for skilled RDAs continues to grow. In just 10 weeks you too can become an RDA in high demand!
Our school is located in Little Rock, Arkansas. Please browse through our website to learn about dental assisting and the opportunity we want to help you achieve, then apply or give us a call.
The philosophy of the school is based on a belief that people can be trained in a relatively short period of time and provides students the focus on the critical skills to enter the world of professional Dental Assisting. Our program at Little Rock School of Dental Assisting prepares students to be chairside ready and able to assist the dentist by carrying out a variety of lab, clinical, and administrative duties. The semesters are 10 weeks long, with testing at the end of the program. Upon successful completion of the program our students will be registered/certified in dental radiography, coronal polishing, nitrous oxide administration, infection control, and CPR.
Dental assistants have many tasks within the dental office ranging from patient care to record keeping. They provide more efficient dental treatment, by preparing a patient for treatment, sterilizing instruments, passing instruments during the procedure, controlling the suction device, exposing dental radiographs, taking impressions, fabricating temporary crowns, obtaining and updating patients’ dental records, and instructing patients on postoperative and general oral health care. All of these things allow the dentist to focus more time on the procedure and seeing patients.
Opportunities and positions for dental assistants are available and growing. The earning potential of a dental assistant is above average in the healthcare assisting market segment with $35,390 as the median income for a dental assistant in 2014. The field of dental assisting is expected to grow at a much faster than average rate of 18% between 2014 and 2024 and increased awareness of oral health is the driving factor behind this.
